Infection Control

Infection control is important to Dr. Burt and the staff at South Shore Dentistry. This protects our patients and dental team. The foundation for a good and safe dental office is trust. Please ask Dr. Burt or any of the staff members any questions you may have concerning this topic.

Our dental team follow procedures recommended by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Included in these procedures are:

  • Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces
  • Disinfectant hand soap
  • Disposable materials
  • Gloves and face masks
  • Sterilization of all equipment before every use – All reusable equipment is sterilized using an autoclave. It is a device that kills bacteria and virus using steam, heat and pressure.

The best way to keep disease away is to be informed. Wise decisions regarding your health care are possible with knowledge. Knowing our daily procedures and policies will help you feel comfortable.
